Self-Care Sundays: Simple Relaxation Ideas for Moms

Between juggling work, managing the household, and caring for your family, finding time for

yourself as a mom can feel impossible.

That’s why dedicating your Sundays to self-care is so important. Set aside this time to recharge your batteries so you can be a happier, healthier mom.

Start with morning mindfulness

Start your self-care Sunday with a peaceful morning routine. Wake up 30 minutes earlier than usual to enjoy some quiet time.

Brew your favorite coffee or tea and sit by a window or in a favorite spot. Practice mindfulness by focusing on your breathing or by jotting down three things you’re grateful for in a journal. This simple act can set a calm and positive tone for the day ahead.

Give yourself the spa treatment

Turn your bathroom into a spa retreat by lighting a few candles, playing soft music, and indulging in a long, luxurious bath with Epsom salts or your favorite bath bomb, perhaps also soothing essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus.

Unplug for a few hours

In today’s digital age, taking a break from screens is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Put your phone on Do Not Disturb mode and just say No to the impulse to scroll through social media or answer email.

Instead, read a book, do some painting, or indulge in some other offline activity you enjoy. Or just enjoy the silence.

Exercise

Physical activity doesn’t have to be intense to be effective. Move your body in a way that feels good for you. A leisurely yoga session or a peaceful walk around your neighborhood can relieve stress and improve your mood.

If you prefer more structured exercise, try an online Pilates class or a short dance workout.

Connect with nature

Visit a local park, go for a hike, or simply relax in your backyard with a good book. Bring a blanket and have a mini picnic, or take a few moments to meditate and soak up the sounds of nature. A mere twenty minutes outside can make a big difference.

Remember your hobbies

When was the last time you spent time doing something — baking, gardening, knitting, scrapbooking — simply because you enjoy doing it? Use self-care Sunday to reconnect with your hobbies. It’s a therapeutic, creative outlet all your own.

Share the day

Invite a friend or fellow mom to join you for a relaxing activity like a yoga class, brunch, or a creative workshop. Sharing these moments can deepen your relationships and make the day even more enjoyable.

Delegate

You can’t do it all. Offload! You can use Sundays to delegate chores to your partner or children, though maybe that’s something you should also be doing all week.

Don’t be afraid to say no to activities or commitments that don’t help or interest you or that you simply haven’t got time for.

Enjoy an Alcohol-Free Nightcap

As the day winds down, have a nightcap that will enhance your relaxation – without causing a hangover.

While alcohol has numerous negative health effects, and may actually make you feel more

stressed, alternatives like cannabis drinks can provide soothing benefits and will leave you

feeling well-rested and ready to take on the week on Monday.

End your self-care Sunday on a high note!
